What Did He Say?: 2005

They were brothers. They looked like brothers--same nose, same eyes, same haircut.

They were about two years apart, forming a little staircase together--the youngest was about two-years-old.

They came up as a group to see Santa.

He had some on each side, by his knees, and the youngest one found his way to Santa just in front of, but in between, his brothers.
The older boys started taking turns, telling Santa what they wanted for Christmas. Santa listened, intently, as he always does. Suddenly the younger brother raised his hands in gesture and began babbling away.

"Oh blak, a bod hem, daad, tak, mmusm. Yyya caalmm dicatmmmm opppemmnns."

"What did he say?" several asked.

He repeated the process of exclamation, complete with facial expressions and hand gestures that would rival any public speaker. He had something on his mind and he was making a lengthy effort to share that with Santa. It was so precious. We never found out what he meant but we had no doubt that he had thought this through and was determined about what he was doing. Let's hope that one of Santa's elves was listening--one with the gift of tongues.
