The Angel Wears A Mohawk: 2005

Thrift stores are some of the funnest places to be. We went, dressed in our casual Santa wear to see what we could see.

"You can go play. I'm going to look for awhile," I said to Mick.

A woman, nearby, heard me and let out the loudest giggle. She struck up a conversation with me about Santa and his playful manner. Mick was already beset by children. He did want to play and I knew that, but I had some serious shopping to do. In thrift shops you have to look hard for treasures.

Later, he introduced me to one of the children he had talked with. He was with his little sister, who said he was the best brother ever. The young boy was eight or nine years old, with the face of an angel and a four inch mohawk hairdo. When Mick asked him what he wanted for Christmas he said he needed a different kind of gel for his hair because what he was using was leaving too many flakes. It was all we could do to keep a serious look on our faces. Santa told him he would see what he could do. Have to help a young man look his best!
