Do You Do Santa?: 2005

"Do you do Santa?"
It is a question we hear a lot this time of year.
"Do I do Santa? My dear, I am Santa," was the reply.
The woman proceeded to tell us that she takes care of a group of disabled people who would love a visit from Santa. We were in a grocery store, picking up a precooked turkey and the fixings for Thanksgiving day with Mick's 85 year old mother.

We were visiting from up north and needed a little help. This woman just walked up to us as we waited for the order to be filled. As the woman explained to us her situation she began to cry. "I'm sorry," she said. "I just lost my mother." That precipitated a group hug, of course. We talked about that awhile. We took her name and number and told her we would see what we could do. She asked how much we charged? We had decided that this year we were not going to charge any money for "doing Santa" We had had a year of great blessings. We wanted to give back. After she found this out there were more tears and another group hug. We made arrangements with Maria to meet her special friends.
