He's Here!: 2005

We had recently moved into another home, moving from up North. We weren't sure just how long we would be there. We were in a store, finding things to decorate our home. I had gotten separated from Mick, but he was within visual distance and I could see what was going on with him. I've told you that I am more shy and I rather like it when we separate in stores at the first of the season. It takes me awhile to get up my courage. T wo boys, about eleven, had spotted him and were talking to "Santa". It is always amazing to me that they come up to him even when the Santa virus has not completely taken hold of him. I guess he just has that kind of spirit. He visited with them for awhile. Then Mick left the scene. I was still there, even when he went out of sight. I think he was looking for me, even though I was right there. Often he cannot see what is right in front of him. No wonder he needs Rudolph! I watched the boys after he left. They whispered to each other and then were looking for something. It became evident they were trying to find those they came with. Perhaps it was their family. ? There was buzzing and excitement. "He's here!" they exclaimed. Then they all proceeded to look down every aisle, trying to find him. I thought it was so cute--especially because the boys were of the age that people often stop believing in Santa. Now, who could ever do that? Mick finally found me. I finished our shopping and we went to the checkout stand. The group followed us there. Mick went to them again. I checked out. We proceeded out to the parking lot and they followed us to our car. It was great fun. We were so happy to see that people still believe in Santa. When you know the whole story of this man you can see that it is a great legacy--one that when done properly does not take away from the real meaning of Christmas. Anyone who has the spirit of giving follows the Christ child. And just think--the celebration of His birth is soon upon us! He is here!
