Playground Of Dreams: 2004

After the community worked hard to build a playground called Playground of Dreams, vandals burned it down. Determined to rebuild, the community worked hard and accomplished their goal. The afternoon was warm and we were driving around, wondering what to do. We were dressed in our best. We drove out to Playground of Dreams. It didn't take long before we were spotted by the children. We visited, played with the children, swung them on the swings and wished them a Merry Christmas. Pictures were taken. As Santa was digging in the sand with a truck scooper, a very proper little girl said to me,

"Santa likes to play. I can tell."

I told her, "Yes, he is just a big kid."

"Big kids are not supposed to play," said the girl.

"Well, he is a big elf and it is OK for elves to play," I answered.

"Oh," she said, acceptingly.
As we left, we were more than glad that we lived in a community that cared so much for their children. One must always remember to play or they will grow old too soon. Santa taught me that.
