A Missionary In The Making: 2004

The last visit of the night was for an LDS Ward function. We were asked to take pictures with about fifty children. There was not much time for visiting like in normal visits, but the pictures were good for all involved. The organizers of the party had seen us at Christmas Memories and decided to stop looking. We were what they wanted.

We handed out a small book and a candy cane for each child, and families got to take the pictures the way they wanted to. They also had a man taking pictures. The area missionaries were there and wanted to sit on Santa's lap. It was great to see them. I told them we prayed for them every night.
That seemed to please the missionaries. Even before the missionaries came for their visit, a young man--about twelve--came and sat on Santa's knee. He said he had a question for him. He seriously asked, "Santa, what do you know about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?" Santa thought for a moment and then began reciting the Articles of Faith.

That caught the young man off guard, but only for a minute. He seemed very pleased that he and Santa had some important truths in common.
