You Can't Hide: 2004
We went into a bank to do business. They wanted us to come back when we were dressed up. We told them we would. We went to get medicine. They reminded us they had our picture from last year hung up in the pharmacy. We went to Kinko's to copy our pictures for gifts. Several asked us if we did Mr. and Mrs. Santa? We showed them the picture. We got a party date.
We ate at Applebee's and got stopped going out by a woman who thought we should be Mr. and Mrs. Santa. A clerk at Safeway's told us that the other day a young boy had seen Mick get off his motorcycle and he came into the store, saying, "Mama, I just saw Santa on his motorcycle."
We shopped at Wal-Mart and the clerk was excited to wait on Santa and Mrs. Claus. A few days later a man Mick worked with asked him if he had been at Wal-Mart recently? A man who waited on him was going on and on about how Santa and Mrs. Claus came through his checkstand. We ate at Burger King and two little boys from different families ended up on Santa's knee. One said, "I knew it was you by your boots with the buckles" We were dressed regular except for that. Mick asked him who I was? Without hesitating he answered, "Mrs. Claus.", so matter of factly. It seems that no matter where we go, we cannot hide. But that is OK. Do we really want to? It seems to have been given to us to spread Christmas cheer.
