Church--"Hi Santa": 2004

Even before Santa made his hair white, children treated him as Santa. We were waiting in the lobby of church. A four-year-old girl whispered to her mother. The mother came over to my husband and told him the "list" of things her daughter wanted for Christmas. Later, after he was white, he was sitting in the chapel before church started. Another four-year-old girl sat down beside him and started telling him what she wanted. He told her her, gently, that this was not the time to tell him. It was a time to think of Jesus. She went back to her seat, crying. She announced to her mother that she still knew that he was Santa.
